The Academy has historically been resistant to technological disruption, and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes produced strong industry sentiment against AI-generated content. The Academy's eligibility rules require human creative authorship, which directly limits AI-generated films. While AI tools are increasingly used in post-production, a "primarily AI-generated" film nomination would require a fundamental shift in Academy culture and rules that is unlikely within this timeframe.
