A ground invasion of Iran would be an enormously consequential strategic decision with devastating military, economic, and geopolitical ramifications. Iran's geography (mountainous terrain, 80M+ population) makes ground operations extraordinarily difficult. No US administration has seriously considered this option even during peak tensions. While proxy conflicts and limited strikes remain possible, a conventional ground invasion is nearly inconceivable absent an extraordinary provocation such as a nuclear weapon detonation.
